100 days of school already gone? Seems like only yesterday when the newest class of excited first graders marched through the front doors of the Arab Primary School for their first day of school. Regardless of how long it seems, Monday marked the first 100 days of the 07-08 school year and to celebrate, 169 first graders gathered around the school flag pole to release approximately 200 balloons into the bright winter sky.
In chorus the first grade
students and faculty began the count to 100. As the
magic number was reached a rainbow of balloons soared
skyward as students from the eleven first grade classes
cheered the balloons onward.
The balloon release was not the
only means of celebrating the occasion. As a lead up
the students learned to count to 100, wrote 100 words, read
100 books, sorted 100 items and were quiet for 100 seconds.
After all that work the best part may have been the cupcake
party. Click to view a gallery of additional photos from the
balloon release.
