March 16, 2008
A mobile home owned by James Edward Allison at 1265 Lowery Road NE was heavily damaged by fire and smoke Sunday night.  No one was at home when the fire broke out but a puppy in the home was killed by the fire.  Allison's sons, James Elbert and Barry Edward Allison who lived in the mobile home, were next door at their parent's home when the fire began.

Allison, who fought the fire with a fire extinguisher until Arab Fire Rescue units arrived, said a front window had already broken from the fire and heavy smoke and flames were coming from the window when they discovered the fire.

Allison said he had given the puppy to his sons a couple of weeks ago after their cat had died.  "I was trying to help heal their hurt and now they have lost the puppy too."  Allison said that he had some insurance on the mobile home.
