If you
need a helping hand Pat Sanders is the
person to call. It was this passion
for helping others that resulted in a B-Team
Angels Earth Angel Award during a recent
CASA meeting at the Albertville Shoney's
restaurant. Mrs. Sanders was also
recently recognized as the CASA of Marshall
County's Volunteer of the Quarter.

Pat Sanders is surprised by the B-Team Angels
Mrs. Sanders has
been a CASA volunteer for over twelve years.
She began by working in the food pantry and
then as a transportation volunteer. It
is her service as a transportation volunteer
that stands out in the lives of many people,
especially to Virginia Harbin, who nominated
Sanders for the Earth Angel Award.
Harbin said, "She has been a true angel to
me and my life and to so many others."
In her letter, Harbin recounted the many times
that Sanders had gone out of her way to help her get to Dr's.
appointments and how she had checked on her several times during
a trip to the emergency room. "She takes me to the dental
school in Birmingham, the eye doctor at the Eye Foundation, to
the grocery store, and the drug store." "I don't know how
I would have gone to these places without her Christian love."
It's not just Harbin, Sanders is well known for helping many
CASA clients to make their appointments and treatments.
Sanders, who lives in Arab, first heard
about CASA at a "New Comers" coffee and immediately decided that
CASA was something she wanted to be involved in. She
served on the Board of Directors for 10 year serving as
secretary for 8 of those years. When her husband retired
she decided to give up some of her extracurricular activities so
she left the Board of Directors but according to the CASA
Newsletter, "she is still running up and down the highways of
Marshall County taking CASA clients to their medical
appointments."
