The rain
which shortened the Relay For Life Friday
night was gone Saturday morning leaving
beautiful blue skies and beautiful weather
perfect for a day at the Arab City Park and
the Arab Historical Society's "Back When"
Day. All of the buildings were open
and manned by members of the Society dressed
in period clothes. Demonstrations of a
wash day and churning chores were
demonstrated at the Lola Boyd house,
quilters demonstrated the fine art of
quilting in the Ruth Homemakers Club
building, and demonstrations of the grist
mill and blacksmith shop were other
highlights. The Elvin Light Museum was
open with displays and memorabilia and the
Smith Store was open for display and sale of
candy and cold drinks. Soup and
chicken and dumplings were available in the
Hunt School. An old fashioned singing
and a dulcimer concert was held in the Rice
Church by the Tennessee Valley Dulcimer
Club. Dulcimer and guitar could also
be heard on the Boyd house front porch.
