Life-long Marshall County resident Danny Pankey has officially
announced his run for Marshall County District 3 Commissioner.
He qualified as a Democrat in April and has no opposition in the
party and therefore will not appear on the ballot until the
November general election.
Pankey, 60, is President of the Marshall County Cattleman’s
Association and is a technician for AT&T where he has worked for
almost 39 years. He promises to promote excellence in Marshall
County Government and represent the public with integrity and
honesty.
A graduate of Douglas High School, class of 1965, Pankey
attended Northeast State Community College, Snead State
Community College, and Jacksonville State University where he
earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1989.
He served two years in the U.S. Army and attended basic training
at Fort Benning, Georgia. Pankey served in Vietnam as a sergeant
with the 1st Air Calvary Division. He was awarded the Bronze
Star for service, air medal, and an Army commendation with V for
valor.
A former district representative for the Marshall County
Jaycees, Pankey also served as president of the American July
Breeders Association and former vice president of the July
National. He was assistant fire chief of the Nixon Chapel
Volunteer Fire Department.
“I’m confident that I have what it takes – knowledge,
experience, understanding, and integrity – to make the citizens
of Marshall County proud”, said Pankey. “It’s my goal to provide
highly effective government leadership”. Pankey added that he
would retire from his job when elected so that he could serve
Marshall County full-time.
Pankey is the son of W.H. and Johnnie Lou Pankey of Hyatt. He
has been married to Dianne (Bishop) Pankey for 40 years. They
have three children, Paul, Brien and Kelly and nine
grandchildren.
“We are extremely
impressed with the candidacy of Mr. Pankey”, said Marshall
County Democratic Executive Committee Chairwoman Susan McKenney.
“The voters will have an easy choice in the November general
election”.
