Early Morning Fire Destroys

battle a blaze that destroyed a Matt
Morrow Road home Thursday morning around 6
a.m.

An early
morning fire completely destroyed the home
of James and Glenda Ditto located at 781
Matt Morrow Road. The Dittos were at
home at the time of the fire but escaped
without injury. They have insurance
according to Arab Fire & Rescue Chief Ricky
Phillips.
Marshall County
911 received the fire call at 5:59 a.m..
Firefighters from Ruth VFD, Union Grove VFD,
Brindlee Mountain VFD, and Arab Fire &
Rescue responded to the fire. Brindlee
Mountain supplied water from a fire hydrant
that was located down the road from the
residence while firefighters from Ruth,
Union Grove and Arab battled the blaze.
No one was injured in the blaze and a cause
has not been determined.
After the fire,
Chief Phillips praised the work of the
responding fire departments, "The number of
departments and personnel operating on the
scene shows the outstanding cooperation and
team work of the area fire departments we
have to work with." Brindlee Mountain
firefighter James Wessel said he could see
smoke and flames from the top of
Cleve-Terrell Hill on Highway 231 as he
responded to the call.
Arab Fire &
Rescue also responded to a fire on County
Road 1856 in Cullman County around 3 a.m.
That home was also destroyed. Details
of the fire are not yet available.
