Today, The Foundation for Marshall Medical Centers announced
receiving its largest-ever, single donation. The $25,000
donation comes from Birmingham-based construction firm Robins
and Morton along, with the pledge to repeat this donation on an
annual basis. This donation will be specifically earmarked for
the Foundation’s flagship program which is providing college
scholarships for graduating Marshall County high school seniors
who plan to pursue a career in a healthcare field.
Until recently, the Foundation for Marshall Medical Centers has
primarily received its funding through sources internal to the
Medical Centers and through fundraising initiatives lead by the
Physicians’ Spouses’ Auxiliary. “This donation will be a great
catalyst to the plans currently underway by the Foundation’s
board of directors to launch a community outreach,” said Steve
Knowles, president of the Foundation’s board.
“Robins and Morton has been involved in many of the construction
projects throughout the growth of Marshall Medical Centers. They
have been a wonderful partner in business – and- now, we are
pleased they have chosen to be our partner in helping to make
these scholarships possible in our community,” said Gary Gore,
Marshall Medical Centers’ CEO.
“Over the years, Robins & Morton has grown from a small
construction operation into one of the top contractors in the
United States who build hospitals and other healthcare
facilities,” said Gore. “Through our years of affiliation with
them, we know of many instances in which they have made similar
contributions in the communities where they work. We are honored
to be the beneficiary of this most generous gift –and- of their
willingness to be supportive of our Foundation and its work.”
