Crime fighting is a tough job
so it's not everyday that Arab Police are able to catch a thief
with the loot in their hands (or is it paws), and still wearing
their mask. Police credit Alan Putnam with apprehending the
suspect who was in the midst of burglarizing the PD's garbage
dumpster, but credit Larry Hankins, of the Street Department,
with the actual collar of the perpetrator after animal control
officer, Dan Woodruff declined to arrest, handcuff, and
fingerprint the alleged thief.
Putnam discovered the alleged
burglar crouched in the dumpster, unable to climb out, and
unwilling to give up the gourmet food in his grasp. After
a thorough interrogation of the suspect and after Woodruff
declined to make an arrest, Putnam decided to cut the bandit a
break by placing a pole into the dumpster to allow an escape.
Unfortunately the felon declined to take advantage of Putnam's
generosity so Hankins was called to capture the bandit with a
catch pole. After receiving his Miranda warning the bandit
was caged and transported out of the city limits,
still wearing his mask.
