Arab To Participate In
"Year of Small Towns"

Arab will participate in the statewide "Year of Alabama Small Towns and Downtown" in 2010.

The Arab City Council voted to participate during the council meeting Monday night.

The Alabama Year of Small Towns and Downtowns is a statewide promotion set to kick-off in 2010.  The event is being promoted by Alabama Governor Bob Riley and the Alabama Tourism Department and is intended to provide a venue for cities to celebrate the history of their community and to invite former residents back for a special "Homecoming" weekend.

The council designated September 11, 2010 as "Arab Welcome Home Weekend" in conjunction with the Summer Days and Arabian Knights Celebration.
