Retired Arab Fire Rescue
Assistant Chief Tony Cox, was honored by Mayor Frank Lee Cox
and the Arab City Council during the Monday night council
meeting. Mayor Cox presented Cox with a plaque
commemorating Cox's 19 years of service. Cox retired
at the end of December.
Mayor Cox
complimented Cox on his service, particularly after being
asked to assume the roll of interim chief during what Mayor
Cox called a "difficult period at the Fire Department".
Tony Cox thanked the mayor and council for allowing him to
serve the City.
Not
running - At least not right now....
After thanking the
council, Cox went on to say that there were a lot of rumors
that he was intending to run for city council in the August
municipal election. Cox said he was honored by all who
had asked and encouraged him to run for a council seat but
at this time he did not plan to run. He said that at
this stage in his life, he and his wife Judy had several
things that they wanted to do, however he added that he
could change his mind depending on the circumstances between
now and the end of qualifying time.
