Albertville, Jan. 3, 2009
The Arab Knights continue to roll, this time handling a solid Albertville squad and emerging with a 51 – 38 win. It was another strong outing by Arab who now stands at 10 – 9 on the season and 4 of 5 in recent play. The Albertville Aggies are now 11 – 8. Arab now prepares for a Tuesday night match-up with Guntersville in Arab. The Aggies will face Area 13 rival Southside, also on Tuesday.

Tonight’s contest was close for three quarters with the Knights pulling away in the fourth. Wesley Hohn continues to produce, tossing in 17 points to lead Knight scoring. Once again Lee Elrod teamed up and added 12.

Wesley Hohn’s big game was the story of the night. Hohn pulled in seven rebounds and was 8 of 11 from the free throw line. Hohn’s and Elrod’s recent surge in production is just what the Knights have been looking for as the team continues to show balance in the score column. Jared Myers scored five tonight, hitting two of five field goals. Myers added three rebounds, five assists, and three steals. The steals extend Myers’s streak to 18 consecutive games with at least a steal, ala Chris Paul.

Jonathan Embry and David Underwood each added five points with Lake Graham adding four. Graham, whose defensive play has been instrumental in the Knights recent surge, also blocked three shots. This gives Graham nine blocked shots in the last four games.
