Knights Defeat Rival
Guntersville Wildcats 17-14

September 27, 2009
The Arabian Knights notched their third win of the season Friday night against the perennial rival Guntersville Wildcats.  The Wildcats were undefeated going into the game but the Knights broke the string of victories with a 17 - 14 win.

The Knights were first on the scoreboard with a touchdown on a 3 yard run by Jonathan Embry with 5:42 left in the 2nd quarter.  The Knights carried a 7-0 lead into the dressing room at half time.

The Wildcats got onto the scoreboard with 6:20 left in the 3rd quarter.  Corey Cahill scored on a 68 yard pass from Chris Daniel.  The point after try by Guntersville was no good and the Knights held onto the lead 7-6.

The Knights put answer points on the board with a 17-yard run by Michael Moffett with 1:53 left in the 3rd quarter.  The point after kick was good to give Arab a 14-6 lead.

The Knight's kicking game, which has been troublesome in the earlier games, was firing on all cylinders Friday night.  Nathaniel Joyner booted a 20 yard field goal with 3:47 left in the game after a Knights drive bogged down.  The field goal gave the Knights a 17-6 lead.

The Joyner field goal would prove to be crucial in the game as Guntersville trimmed the lead with a 50 yard pass from Daniel to Cahill for a TD and a successful 2 point conversion attempt with 2:39 remaining.

The Knights picked off two of Guntersville's passing attempts.

Arab Quarterback Jonathan Embry was 5 of 7 in passing for the night, connecting for 89 yards. Embry rushed for 93 yards.

Arab will be on the road to Southside Friday night.
