A late night fire
destroyed a single wide mobile home with attached addition
and garage Wednesday night on US Hwy 231 South. Arab
firefighters were dispatched to assist Summit Volunteer Fire
Department with a structure fire at the corner of Hwy 231
and New Harmony Road at 11:11 p.m. The garage and
sunroom were fully engulfed in flames when firefighters
arrived.
Virginia Childers, owner of the
home, said that the fire was discovered in the garage and
sunroom area. Cause of the fire has not been
determined but is being investigated by the State Fire
Marshall's Office. The electrical service entrance and
electrical panel are located in the general area where the
fire appeared to have originated.
Firefighters from Arab, Summit,
Brooksville, 4C and Holly Pond were on the scene until 01:41
am. Firefighters returned to the scene for about 30
minutes at 4:53 a.m. to extinguish some areas that continued
to smolder.
