A SUV driven by Barbara Mize, age 69, of
Attalla, rolled over after colliding with a
school bus Thursday afternoon at the
intersection of South Main St. and City Park
Drive. The bus, operated by the Arab
City Schools received minor damage.
Mize was trapped inside the SUV for a short
time. She was extricated by rescue
personnel and transported to Marshall
Medical Center North by ambulance. Her
injuries were not thought to be serious.
The bus was occupied by the driver and one
student. No one on the bus was
injured.
The bus, which was driven by Glenda Cox of
Arab, was traveling West on City Park Drive
and Mize's vehicle was head South on Main
St. The bus was crossing Main St and
was struck on the front passenger side wheel
and fender. The SUV came to rest in a
ditch after striking two guy wires attached
to a nearby utility pole. The SUV
rolled over at least once.
Arab Police, Arab Fire and Rescue, and Arab
Rescue Squad responded to the wreck scene.
