Texas Men Arrested for Drug Trafficking

August 26, 2009
Wednesday afternoon, agents assigned to the F.B.I. Safe Streets Task Force conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 231 just north of the City of Arab. In that traffic stop, agents seized approximately 5 pounds of Marijuana and arrested 3 men from Texas.

According to Marshall County Sheriff Scott Walls, that seizure lead the Safe Streets Task Force to a Huntsville motel, where the suspects were staying. There were approximately 5 more pounds of Marijuana found there.

The Safe Streets Task Force was assisted in Huntsville-by-Huntsville STAC, FBI, and DEA Agents.

Walls said the Safe Streets Task Force is comprised of investigators from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall County Drug Enforcement Unit, Guntersville Police, Boaz Police, and Albertville Police. Arab Police also assisted in the investigation.  Arab has it's own ANVIL officer who works drugs and other crimes in the City.

The following are being held in the Marshall County Jail:

  • Abel Morales Jr, 32, Houston, Texas

  • Juan Antonio Martinez, 33, Houston, Texas

  • Erick Venos Maldondo, 25, Rosharn, Texas

All three are charged with Drug Trafficking and are being held at the Marshall County Jail pending bond hearing Walls said.
