Autumn Creek resident Roger
Isom found himself in the proverbial position of "Up the creek without a
paddle" Friday morning after heavy rains flooded one of the usual trouble
spots on Haynes Road. Isom's truck stalled as he crossed the fast rising
water. The truck was winched from the water by an Arab Rescue Squad
vehicle.

The heavy rainfall this winter has caused a lot of flooding and damage to city

Isom said that he didn't think the water was as deep enough to
stall the truck.
The area has been a trouble
spot for several years and has worsened with the building of
roads in the Autumn Creek subdivision. The City has
budgeted $30,000 for a drainage study to recommend possible
solutions to the problem but the project has had to be postponed
due to lack of funds.

Downstream from Haynes Road,
the rain run-off forms a large "lake" on the upstream side of
Autumn Creek Drive. The swollen stream is almost up to
the residence of Dwight England. Note the whirlpool of
trash and leaves in the bottom left of the photo as the water
pours into culverts under the street. Approximately half
of the "lake" is shown in this photo.

On the downstream side of
Autumn Creek Drive water pours from the culvert in a torrent.

Flood waters partially cover a
gazebo at a residence on Haynes Road.

Advertising in-ground pools in this area may
be a tough sell. The sign amidst the muddy flood waters
drew some smiles as rescuers pulled the stalled truck to land.
