On Monday morning, sheriff’s investigators were following up on
an online tip that meth was being cooked at a home on Old Union
Road in Grant.
As deputies approached the home, deputies and sheriff’s
investigators observed individuals running out the door of the
home.
“Deputies quickly went to secure the property and found a two
year old child inside the home, along with an active one pot
meth lab. The mother of the child was among those who ran as
deputies approached the home. The mother came back to the home
38 minutes later to see about her child. The mother was
immediately arrested and taken to jail. Alabama Department of
Human Resources was called to assist with the child.” Said
Sheriff Scott Walls.
Penny Louise Pendergrass, 28, 839 Old Union Road, Grant, AL was
arrested and charges with Chemical Endangerment of a Child and
Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance. Pendergrass
posted a $10,000 bond.
More arrests are expected as a result of this investigation.
