Meth Lab Found In Grant Home
Two Year Old Child In Home

August 25, 2009
On Monday morning, sheriff’s investigators were following up on an online tip that meth was being cooked at a home on Old Union Road in Grant.

As deputies approached the home, deputies and sheriff’s investigators observed individuals running out the door of the home.

“Deputies quickly went to secure the property and found a two year old child inside the home, along with an active one pot meth lab. The mother of the child was among those who ran as deputies approached the home. The mother came back to the home 38 minutes later to see about her child. The mother was immediately arrested and taken to jail. Alabama Department of Human Resources was called to assist with the child.” Said Sheriff Scott Walls.

Penny Louise Pendergrass, 28, 839 Old Union Road, Grant, AL was arrested and charges with Chemical Endangerment of a Child and Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance.  Pendergrass posted a $10,000 bond.

More arrests are expected as a result of this investigation.
