April 13, 2009
North Alabama communities, including Arab, were raked with another round of stormy weather overnight.  Arab police, fire department, street department, and rescue squad personnel were extremely busy as high straight line winds buffeted trees and utility lines for about two hours.  Calls started coming into Arab Police and Marshall County 911 dispatch centers between 2 and 3 a.m.

Blocked roads and power outages forced the cancellation of schools in the cities Guntersville and Scottsboro.  Morgan County schools delayed opening for two hours and Wallace State Community College delayed opening until Noon today.  Arab and Marshall County Schools were not affected.

Trees were reported on at least two homes in the Arab area.  Numerous streets and roads were totally blocked for as crews scrambled to get to all of the calls.  Arab Electric Co-operative crews were still working this morning to repair lines and restore power to some areas.

Arab sent police officers to Guntersville to assist with traffic control for several hours early Monday morning.
