Mrs. Lois
Wright Hill celebrated her 100th birthday
Tuesday. She was born January 13,
1909, one day after William Howard Taft was
officially elected as the twenty-seventh
President of the United States by the
electoral college. She is a resident
of the GoldenLiving Center of Arab where she
celebrated with a party given by family and
friends.
As a child,
young Lois Wright grew up in the
Solitude community near Albertville.
She later met and married Lowell Hinds Hill
and after World War II she and her husband
started the North Alabama Nursery near
Joppa. Lowell died in 1967 but Mrs.
Hill continued to run the nursery until the
80's when a son took over operation of the
business.
Mr. and Mrs.
Hill had four children. They are
William Hill and Howard "Duke" Hill, both of
Arab, Mrs. Edna Peoples of Pinson, and Mrs.
Betty Stevens who is deceased. Mrs.
Hill is
a member of the Corinth Baptist Church in
Joppa.
