Road Fire Ruled Arson

A fire that destroyed a home
a double-wide mobile home at 572 Millport Road on August 28 has
been determined to have been caused by arson. (See

Arab Fire Chief
Ricky Phillips requested assistance from the Alabama State Fire
Marshall's Office in investigating the blaze. He issued a press
release Friday afternoon about the fire.
In the press
statement Phillips said, "As a
result of the cooperative efforts of investigators from Arab
Fire and the State Fire Marshall's office, it was determined
earlier today that they fire was the result of an intentionally
set fire that stemmed from an ongoing domestic dispute at the
residence. A suspect in the case has been determined and
an arrest is pending. the identity of the suspect will be
released at a later time."
Engine companies
from Arab Fire & Rescue, Tri-County, Ruth, and Joppa Volunteer
Fire Departments responded to the fire. The home was fully
involved by the time fire units received the call.
Phillips said the
case is being forwarded to the Marshall County District
Attorney's office for processing. The case is still
pending and it is possible that the case will be presented to
the next Marshall County Grand Jury.
