Torrential Rains Dampen
 Poke Salat Festival

Most of the downtown merchants participated with sidewalk displays after the rains let up.  Belinor Antiques was one of the merchants drawing customers through their doors with sidewalk displays.

Some of the organizations took advantage of vacant main street buildings to move their displays inside away from the rains.                                        Arab Today Photos by Dwight Hayes

For the second year in a row, inclement weather disrupted the months of planning for the event.  What had promised to be the largest Poke Salat event in many years was reduced significantly by the torrential rains that pounded the area all day Friday and until around noon on Saturday.  Many of the vendors who had waited out the Friday storms, packed up and left Saturday morning when the weather seemed destined to repeat itself.  Those who stuck it out were rewarded by a fair crowd of shoppers Saturday afternoon.  Click for a photo gallery of the event....
