Police Unit Crashes Enroute To Call
One Arrested After Shots Fired

An Arab Police officer crashed his patrol unit enroute to a call early Tuesday morning. Patrol officer Robbie Rainwater was responded to the call on U.S. Highway 231 South around 3:15 a.m. when his car hit standing water on the roadway and hydroplaned into a ditch. The unit struck a concrete culvert and fence two houses from the original call. The original call was a report of multiple subjects attempting to enter a residence. Officers did not locate anyone at the residence. Rainwater was transported to Marshall Medical Center North by Arab Fire & Rescue ambulance. He was treated and later released. The patrol unit was towed from the scene.
Accidents involving City vehicles are investigated by Alabama State Troopers. While waiting for the Trooper unit to arrive, Corporal Cass Lambert and Sergeant Seth Sullivan were standing near the accident scene and heard two gunhsots. The officers took cover behind Lt. Ed Ralston's patrol unit and then proceded to approach the residence where the shots were fired. Dane STONE, 55 of Arab, was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment. Officers located a handgun, a shotgun and a handheld monocular night vision device.
