Fire Destroys Grassy Community Home

A Grassy community home was destroyed by fire Monday night.  The home, located at 203 Hinds Rd, Arab, was totally engulfed in flames when fire units arrived on scene.  The fire was reported around 9 pm.

Arab Fire & Rescue, 4-C Volunteer Fire Department, and Union Grove Volunteer Fire Department fought the blaze.  Firefighters were on scene for approximately three hours.  An Arab Fire Engine Company was recalled to the scene around 3 a.m. to extinguish flames in a car that had rekindled inside the garage .  Arab Police assisted with traffic control.

Homeowner Charles Taber was not at home at the time of the fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
