Taylor Leaving Chamber
Looks Forward To New Challenge

M ay 21, 2009
Arab Chamber of Commerce Vice President Melody Taylor is leaving after almost nine years with the organization.  She will be moving to a new position in the office of Dr. John York.  Taylor announced her resignation on Wednesday.  She will continue at the Chamber through June 30th and plans to continue to volunteer on Fridays.

Taylor said that she has absolutely loved her time at the Chamber but is also excited about the new opportunity with Dr. York.  She said that York has a vision for his dental practice North Alabama Smiles, and for some community services that she believes will be of great benefit to the community.  "It is an opportunity for me to be involved in those projects and I am really excited that he is interested in me being a part of that."

Taylor, who has served as Chamber Vice-President for the past two years, and as office manage prior to that, says the Chamber has experienced tremendous growth, especially in the past two years.  She expects that growth to continue and to even accelerate.  "There is lots of interest in Arab and I believe we will see a lot of changes within the next few years and I see great growth for the Chamber."

Chamber President Deneille Dunn said that Taylor will be missed.  "Melody has been absolutely wonderful work with.  She made my transition very easy when I first came to the chamber. She is a wonderful person with a wonderful heart and we are going to miss her creativity."  Dunn said that Taylor was a part of developing the Summer Days and Arabian Nights program and the "Email Blast" program, both of which have been very successful.

Taylor said her tenure at the Chamber has been fun.  "I learned a lot and grew professionally while at the Chamber but I feel at peace about my decision.  I will help with training during my remaining time and then I plan to sign up with RSVP so that I can volunteer on Fridays.
