Cody Thompson has died from
injuries suffered in a Cullman Road wreck on Saturday (See
related story).
According Sgt Seth Sullivan of
the Arab Police Department, Thompson died at 5:30 pm Monday
afternoon at Huntsville Hospital. Thompson had been on
life support in an Intensive Care Unit since being flown
from a landing zone near the accident. Thompson, 20,
was a passenger in the back seat of a 2006 Kia Spectra that
was struck in the rear while stopped to make a left turn
into the parking lot of Don's Convenience Store.
Thompson suffered head and abdominal injuries.
Thomas Johnson, 16, the driver of the 1991 Isuzu Rodeo that struck Thompson's car reportedly told
Arab Police that his brakes failed. Arab Police are
still investigating the accident.
Thompson's death came two days
after the birth of his daughter, Emily Nicole Thompson.
Emily was born Saturday afternoon, after Beverly Fincher,
who was also in the wreck, went into premature labor.
Fincher, 18, who was eight months pregnant at the time of
the wreck was also flown to Huntsville Hospital.
Fincher and daughter are doing well according to friends.
