For the twentieth year in a row, Arab has
been designated as a "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation.
Arab is one of 3,310 cities to receive the designation. To receive the
designation each city must meet four standards set by The Arbor Day Foundation
and the National Association of State Foresters. The city must have a tree
board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and must have an Arbor Day
observance and proclamation. Arab Mayor signed a proclamation on Friday
declaring February 27th as Arbor Day in Arab.
Nationally, Arbor Day is observed
each year on the last Friday of April. For more information about Arbor
Day and the Tree City USA program
