Lightning
Causes Twin Lakes Fire

August 11,
2009
Heavy lightning during a
thunderstorm apparently caused a fire that damaged the Twin
Lakes Golf Club pro shop Tuesday afternoon. Arab
firefighters were called to the Golf View Drive business
around 1:10 pm and quickly extinguished the smoldering
blaze. The fire was confined to an attic area of the
building.
An employee
in the building at the time, said there was a loud crack as
the storm moved through, but nothing appeared to be wrong
immediately after the strike. A few minutes later
someone ran into the building to say smoke was pouring from
the roof and that he needed to get out. He said he
grabbed the cash from the register and ran for safety.
