United Way of Marshall County has elected new
officers and three new members to its volunteer Board of
Directors. The Board plays an instrumental role in identifying
essential community programs, ensuring the efficient use of
donor dollars, and establishing policies and objectives.
“We are a volunteer
driven organization,” said Jeannie Lyle, executive director of
United Way of Marshall County. “The individuals who make up our
Board of Directors are our leaders. They are the heart of United
Way and we value their expertise and guidance to help make us
one of the most effective and efficient United Way’s in the
state.”
The new 2009 members of the Board include, Adam Pierce, Weathers
Furniture, Boaz; Rick Martin, Superior Bank, Guntersville; and
Laura Casey, a volunteer from Albertville. These new members
will serve a three-year term. The following newly officers
elected for 2009 include: President: Corey Williams, Peoples
Bank; Vice President: Judy Miller, Marshall County Legislative
Office; Treasurer: Steven Knowles, Ameriprise; and Secretary:
Rodney Edmondson, McLaughlin & Edmondson.
Other board members include, Neal Terrell, First Bank of Boaz;
Ed O’Neal, Progress Rail; Chris Clay, Clay Irrigation; Renee
Terrell, Peoples Independent Bank; Jeana Ross, Boaz City
Schools; Jeannie Courington, Albertville; Kevin Hawk, Re/MAX;
and Charlene Miller, Bancorp South. Board members are chosen
based on their proven leadership in their respective fields as
well as within the community. With the newest additions, United
Way’s 2009 Board will consist of 15 members representing
Marshall County.
Out going board members who have served one or more terms
include: Tracy Honea, Honea Mitsubishi; John Harvey, The
Advertiser Gleam; and Mary Smith, Danny Smith Attorney at Law.
For more than 40 years, United Way of Marshall County has helped
enrich community life by addressing critical issues. Volunteers
and donors research the needs of the community and develop
strategies for assisting people who need it most, including
children, families, and individuals. United Way of Marshall
County provides funding for 27 partner agencies and programs
that ensure the efficient use of donor dollars.
