Applications Available For 2010 Auburn Women's Basketball Camps

AUBURN - The Auburn women's basketball team is accepting applications to all four of its summer camps: Team Camp, Parent/Child Camp, Individual Camp and High Intensity Elite Camp.

The camps are staffed by Auburn head coach Nell Fortner, along with assistant coaches Kerry Cremeans, Mark Simons and Ayesha Whitfield, as well as Director of Basketball Operations Melissa Maines.

The camps kick off with the Team Camp on June 6-8. Cost for the camp will be $210 per player (includes housing and meals), $180 (includes meals, no housing) or $150 (housing and meals on your own). The camp guarantees each team seven games with certified officials and an optional overtime tournament. A minimum of eight players are required with two coaches per team and one coach per team will receive a $200 stipend.

There is also an option with the Team Camp for 1-on-1 instruction with your team by an Auburn coach.

The camps continue on June 12 with the Parent/Child Camp. A fun opportunity for any family member, the camp will emphasize fundamentals and will go over the importance of the role of a parent in a child's athletic career. It will run from 1-5 p.m., capping off with a cookout. The cost is $100 for the parent and child with an additional $25 for each additional child.

The Individual Camp is slated for June 13-16 and is open to players in grades 3-12. It is designed to help players of all skill levels as the camp focuses on the basics of offense and defense, including ball-handling, shooting, defense and rebounding. Each camper will also participate in various individual and team competitions. The cost of the Individual Camp is $330 for those staying overnight and $290 for commuters.

The camps will cap off with the High Intensity Elite Camp, set for June 26-27. It is designed for advanced players who aspire to play college basketball and have at least two years of high school varsity experience. Coaches will work to improve skills and give a better understanding of playing their position. Players will also receive specialized attention from Division I coaches. Cost for the camp is $140 for those staying overnight and $100 for commuters.

Campers at all of the camps will receive a camp t-shirt and a camp ball. The program features a 10-to-1 camper-to-staff ratio and motivational and skill speeches by Coach Fortner. Individual and team awards will also be given at each camp.
