Tragedy struck an Arab family Monday afternoon when an Arab woman was killed in a grinding car - tractor truck wreck at the intersection of AL Hwy 69 and Mayberry Lane / Shoal Creek Road in the Grassy community. Ashley Nicole Collier, age 22 of Lowery Road, the driver of a Nissan Maxima was apparently attempting to cross Hwy 69 from Mayberry Lane to Shoal Creek Road when her car was struck in the passenger side by an eastbound tractor truck driven by Heath Stiepp. The truck belonged to Trusswalk, Inc. of Scant City. Stiepp was not injured in the crash. The truck was not pulling a trailer at the time of the accident.

The eastbound lane of Hwy 69 was closed for approximately three hours while the accident was investigated by Alabama State Troopers. The westbound lane of Hwy 69 was converted to two-way traffic and eastbound traffic was re-routed around the wreck scene during the investigation.

Units from Arab Fire & Rescue and Arab Police responded to wreck and remained on scene until the troopers concluded their investigation. The accident is being investigated by the Alabama State Troopers and Marshall County Coroner Marlon Killion.
