National statistics show the probability of sex offenders reoffending is high. Obviously in this situation, those statistics hold true. I have an obligation as Sheriff to protect our citizens from criminals such as this. I will continue to track and ensure sex offenders in Marshall County are abiding by all laws set forth by the state of Alabama.” Sheriff Walls has made the monitoring of sex offenders a priority within Marshall County. Our citizens have the ability to log on to the Sheriffs website at www.marshallcosheriff.org and view all registered sex offenders in Marshall County. In addition, citizens can register their email address and receive immediate email notification when a sex offender moves into their neighborhood. Alabama law requires a registered sex offender to verify their residential information twice a year with the Sheriffs Office. However, Sheriff Walls requires sex offenders to call the office on a monthly basis to check in. Deputies perform random physical checks on sex offender’s year around. The Sheriff encourages the public to visit his website for up to date information and tips on sex offenders.
