Joppa Home Destroyed By Fire

A Joppa area home was totally destroyed by flames Monday morning. The home located at 1595 County Road 1809, was owned by Lowell Barnes. A neighbor reported the fire at 8:09 a.m. after seeing the flames through her living room window. The home was fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene.

Units from Arab, Joppa, Baileyton fire departments along with Arab Police, Cullman County Sheriff's Office, Arab Electric Co-Op and American Red Cross assisted at the scene. Arab fire units were on the scene until around 9:15. Joppa and Baileyton fire departments remained at the scene until later in the morning. According to authorities the home was insured and was a total loss. Cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
