March 26, 2010 Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Gold began his broadcasting career in 1972. He has worked with NASCAR's Motor Racing Network which broadcasts racing events over a 500 station radio network. In 1988 Gold became the voice of the University of Alabama Football. In addition to play by play of the games, he hosts a call in radio show called "Hey Coach". Gold entertained the audience with several humorous stories from his years broadcasting Alabama football and with NASCAR. Alabama football has had eight different head coaches during his tenure.
