May 30, 2010 The threat of thunderstorms forced the ceremonies into the high school auditorium instead of the football field. Moving the ceremonies to the auditorium limited the number of relatives and friends who were able to attend the ceremony. An equal number of tickets were distributed to each graduate prior to the event to be used to invite their special guests. While the possibility of moving the ceremony to the auditorium was on the mind of school administrators all day due to the weather forecasts, AHS principal Patrick Crowder said it was something they wanted to avoid if at all possible due to the space limitations. In the end heavy rains, thunder, and lightning in the area forced the decision to move indoors. Crowder said the threat of lightning was just too great a safety risk for such a large crowd. It was only the second time in more than 10 years that the ceremonies were forced from the football field according to Crowder. The graduates and their invited guests moved to the gymnasium after the ceremony for a time of celebration and photos. Eleven graduates graduated with honors by compiling at least a 4.0 gpa during the high school academic career. the students are: Charles Baker, Kara Chapman, Kori Daniels, Riley Flack, Macy Gibbs, Kevin Gilbert, Corey Harris, Ragan Haymon, Katlyn Stricklend, Christopher Tate, and Jennifer Thomas. The senior class officers for the year were: President - Mariah D'Angelo, Vice-President - Carley Hallman, Treasurer - Ashley Vickers, Secretary - Tommy Townsend.
