Horse Whisperer Wows Crowd

May 12, 2010 - By Christopher Derrick Hanson
Horses can be stubborn, especially if they have not been broken. It takes a trainer to lead the horse to a better understanding of where they should be and what they should do. Arab City park along with a couple hundred friends and neighbors witnessed this miracle on the evening of May 12th. An estimated 1,000 people attended the event.
Paul Daily, experienced horse trainer from Trout, Louisiana, took to the arena at the Arab park’s horse corral with a message of hope and tough love. Through a series of trials, Paul wrestled with training a horse around four years old that had never worn a saddle, and had been touched very little by man. There was a close call or two when the un-trained horse bucked, scattering dirt and rope inside the corral. Excitement and fear was in the air, as horse training, can be a dangerous profession. But persistence and technique prevailed, and as the sun went down on Arab City Park, Paul not only roped and saddled his horse, but mounted him as well. It was a spectacular moment for the audience
Wild Horse Ministries is touring and drawing crowds everywhere they go. Their ministry is focused on a message: God wants us to let Him lead us, as Paul leads his horses. It is not an easy road. It is a road full of obstacles and we are stubborn to learn. But with guidance and prayer, we can find life anew in Jesus Christ. After dismantling his newly submissive horse, Paul dismounted and lay the horse down in surrender to God’s guidance as a symbol of the covenant we take when we become Christians. Then, Paul raised the horse, baptized as a new beginning in that life in the eyes of God. Paul then knelt in the center of the corral and heartwarmingly told of when he came to know his new Birth in Jesus. Paul conveyed that just because the first step has been taken, the horse, as ourselves, need a lot of supplement guidance to get where the trainer wants him to be.
Also at the event was excellent bluegrass music by “Golden Strings” as well as some equally entertaining younger talent from “Fresh Water Creek”. There was also a powerful National Anthem performance by Cindy Mays. Also present, were an Old West and Motorcycle Museum attached to a semi-truck as well as Cowboy Bibles and bottled waters, and door prizes that were being given away.
I encourage everyone to thank and support the Marshall Baptist Association and the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions as well as all the volunteers and sponsors. This event was well worth the time, financial support, and energy and I am sure the city of Arab would be thrilled to have this ministry come around again!
Inspiring, encouraging, and entertaining, Wild Horse Ministries will be training a new horse on Thursday, May 13th at the A&M University Agribition center in Huntsville. If you were not able to attend this event, I highly encourage you to see them! As the event pamphlet says, “As for me and my horse, We will ride for the Lord!”
