Thick black smoke pours from a barn on Hog Jaw Road as flames engulf the hay and farm equipment inside the barn. The barn was a new structure approximately 3-4 months old.

A brand new barn structure filled with hay, at least two large tractors, and numerous pieces of farming equipment was completely destroyed by a raging fire Saturday night. The barn, located 728 Hog Jaw Road was owned by Alan Twitty and was 2-3 months old.
The building was totally engulfed by flames by the time it was discovered and the large amount of hay inside the building provided fuel to feed the flames. At least two new tractors and several pieces of new equipment was also destroyed. Firefighters and bystanders were able to save some of the equipment located in the exterior sheds on each side of the barn.
The cause of the blaze has not been determined. The structure was not serviced by electricity. There were no injuries in the blaze. There were no animals in the barn.
Firefighters from Arab, Ruth, Joppa, Baileyton, and Tri-County fire departments responded to the large blaze which produced heavy smoke and flames.
