	Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Hwy 69 In Scant City February 1, 2011 A tragic accident in the Scant City area has taken the life of a Guntersville woman. Mrs. Doris Loraine. Slaten, age 73, was killed instantly as she crossed Alabama Highway 69 near Marshall Medical Center North on Tuesday. Police say the accident occurred around 11:45 a.m. According to reports Mrs. Slaten and her husband were at Therapy Plus when Mrs. Slaten decided to go to the Dollar General store across the street. Mrs. Slaten was returning to Therapy Plus when she was struck by a 2006 Dodge pickup driven by Christopher Rush. Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident. A private private family service for Mrs. Slaten is planned at a later date according to Carr Funeral Home of Guntersville.
