Friendship Road Wreck Claims Life

Marie Walker St. John, age 83, of Glendale Road, Arab, died Thursday, at Huntsville Hospital from injuries sustained in an earlier wreck. Mrs. St. John was flown to Huntsville Hospital by an Airevac helicopter after the crash at the intersection of Glendale Road and New Friendship Road.

According to reports, Mrs. St John apparently pulled into the path of a truck. Orville (Bud) Blakely, the driver of the truck, was not injured.

The accident is being investigated by Alabama State Troopers. Funera arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
