Arab Today photo by Dwight Hayes January 3, 2011 A fire, that may have started from a kerosene heater, damaged a 10th Circle NE home Sunday evening. Homeowner Larry Young had been working on one of his collector cars in the garage earlier and was using a portable kerosene heater to warm the garage. Young said that he had quit for the day and was watching TV when he heard popping. At about the same time he said that his cat began to jump into his lap and to act nervously. When he went to investigate the noises Young was met by a wall of smoke as he opened the door to the garage. He called 911 and evacuated the house due to the heavy smoke. Arab firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. The garage received moderate damage. Several items, including a riding mower were destroyed by the fire. The greatest loss was sustained by two prize collector cars that Young kept in the garage. The flames heavily damaged the hood and front end of a Pontiac Formula One Firebird. It also damaged the paint and front end of a 1993 Corvette. No one was injured in the blaze.

A fire, that may have started from a kerosene heater, damaged a 10th Circle NE home Sunday evening.
