LPN Class of 2010
Pinned During Recent Ceremony

August 18, 2010
Twelve Snead State Licensed Practical Nursing students witnessed their hard work, long hours, and dedication pay off recently during a special pinning ceremony held Tuesday, Aug. 10.

“You have done something critical,” said Snead State President Dr. Robert Exley. “You have finished something you started. We are proud of you, and as you go forth in your new career, I want you to continue to make Snead State proud of you.”

Nursing student Ashley Chambers addressed her fellow classmates, family, and friends who were in attendance.

“We have turned the impossible into the possible. We have turned our worst into our best. We have made lifelong memories and enduring friends that we will carry with us forever,” said Ms. Chambers. “Our rest will come after we pass our Boards. That’s the final test we have to take.”

Quality of Life Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Carol James served as the night’s special speaker. Ms. James has served in the medical field for decades and offered helpful advice to her newest fellow nurses.

“You have made your family, friends, the faculty, and the administration proud in what you have accomplished today. I challenge you to treat every patient the way you would want your family member treated,” said Ms. James. “Perform in such a way that people you come into contact with are inspired by you. There is no greater compliment than this.”

Nursing student Candie Cameron led her classmates in the Nurse’s Pledge. Jack Self led the invocation.

A reception was held for the newly pinned nurses and their family and friends following the ceremony.
