Fort Payne Jumps Out To Early Lead Over The
Knights And Holds On To Win 32 - 19

The Arabian
Knights traveled to Fort Payne for the
seventh game of the season this past Friday
and ran head long into the Wildcats offense.
Fort Payne took
the opening kickoff and returned the kick to
the Arab six yard line. In the next
play Slade Smith of Fort Payne took the ball
and scampered 8 yards for the touchdown.
The PAT was good and with barely fifty-five
seconds off the clock, led 7-0.
With 5:48 left
in the first quarter, Fort Payne gets on the
scoreboard again after a sixty-seven yard
drive consisting of five plays and ran 2:02
off of the clock. Antwon Appleton ran
the final 12 yards for the TD and Josh
Oberlander missed the PAT for a score of
13-0 Fort Payne.
In the second
Quarter, Slade Smith hit Justin Bailey with
a 32 yard strike for the third touchdown
with 7:34 left in the first half. The
drive covered 73 yards in twenty-eight
seconds. Josh Oberlander was again
called on for the PAT and this time was
successful to push the score to 20-0.
With 3:05 left
in the first half, Fort Payne strikes again,
hitting Phillip Greathouse for a 36 yard
touchdown that covered 80 yards in 6 plays.
Josh Oberhander missed his second PAT of the
night and Fort Payne leads Arab by 26-0.
Arab finally
gets on the board with 30 seconds left in
the first half when Heath Pope connects on a
9 yard pass to Nick Karr. The series
of downs covered a total of 21 yards in
eight plays and ran 2:23 off the clock.
Trey Knighton adds the extra point and the
score is Fort Payne 25 - Arab 7.
Both teams were
initially flat coming back after the half
time break resulting in no scoring during
the third quarter.
Taylor Guess who
was sidelined last week with a leg injury,
returned to the lineup Friday and after
eight plays scored from the two yard line.
The Trey Knighton PAT was no good leaving
the Fort Payne Wildcats with a lead of 26 -
13.
Fort Payne
managed to get loose one more time in the
fourth quarter when Slade Smith connects
with Justin Bailey on a fourteen yard pass.
Once again Josh Oberlander misses the PAT.
The drive covered 48 yards in 5 plays with
1:37 coming off the clock. With 4:02
left in the quarter Fort Payne leads Arab
32-13.
In one final
attempt with 25 seconds left in the game.
Wesley Hahn connects with Wes Patterson for
a 10 yard touchdown pass. Once again
Trey Knighton misses the PAT. This
drive covered 94 yards in 10 plays and ran
1:52 off the clock. Final score Arab
19 Fort Payne 32.
