Arabian Knights Fall To Scottsboro
Scottsboro Running Game Leads to 32-19 Defeat of Arab

It's off to the races after Jacob McDonald(#2) pulls in a Heith Pope pass and runs sixty-six yards to score an Arab touchdown with 5:05 left in the second quarter.

September 10, 2006
The Scottsboro Wildcats running came was firing on all cylinders Friday night as they handed the Arabian Knights a 32-19 defeat.  Able to break through the Arab defensive line for long gains with their running plays, the Wildcats threw only two passes during the entire game.  Scottsboro came into the game still stinging from a last minute defeat by Guntersville last week, and trying to get their first win since the 2004 season.  Arab, who won their season opener against Boaz last week was hoping to add another win.  The game was the second regular game of the season and the first Region 7 area game for both teams.

Scottsboro won the toss and elected to receive the kickoff.  After taking the kickoff on the 29 yard line the Wildcats ran 71 yards in 12 plays to score the first touchdown of the game.  Trent Johnson (#23) ran the TD in from the 1 yard line.  The point after attempt was good and Scottsboro led 7-0 with 6:35 left in the first quarter.

Arab answered the Scottsboro TD with one of their own.  After moving the ball 76 yards in 20 plays, Kyler Kirkwood scored Arab's first TD from about the half yard line.  the point after attempt by Trey Knighton was blocked by Scottsboro and with seven seconds left in the first quarter it was Scottsboro 7 and Arab 6.

As the second quarter began, Scottsboro began a drive that would take them into a first and goal situations but a stiff Arab defense and penalties forced Scottsboro to attempt a field goal which was good and Scottsboro led 10-6 with 5:54 left in the second half.

Arab struck back quickly after taking the kick off from Scottsboro.  On the second play of the series from the 34 yard line, Heith Pope connects with Jacob McDonald who carries the ball all the way into the end zone for a 66 yard touch down play.  The point after try was good and Arab led 13-10.

Not to be out done, Scottsboro responded with a second touchdown on a long run by Tyrelle McCamey (#4) and the final carry by Trent Johnson (#23).  The point after attempt by Scottsboro was no good and with 4:39 left in the second quarter Scottsboro had a 16-13 lead.

Scottsboro would score once more before the half on a 40 yard run by the Wildcat quarterback to make the score 22-13 with 1:48 left in the second quarter.  Scottsboro's attempt for two points failed after a fumble that was recovered by Sam Maze of Arab.

Arab took the opening kickoff of the second half but was forced to punt the ball back to Scottsboro after a being unable to advance the ball against the Wildcats.  Scottsboro took over and drove the ball to the 23 yard line before the Arab defense forced a 40 yard field goal attempt by Scottsboro.  The kick was good and Scottsboro led 25-13.

Arab fought back with another touchdown score with 5:59 remaining in the third quarter.  The PAT kick was wide left and the score was 25-19 Scottsboro.

Scottsboro had one touchdown called back because of a holding call but went on to score one more time with 1:09 left in the third quarter with a good PAT to make the score 32-19.  Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

Both Arab and Scottsboro are 1-1 for the season.  Arab will travel to Southside/Gadsden next week for another area game.
