Knights Get On Track
With 28-17 Win Over Southside

After disappointing losses to Boaz and Scottsboro, the Arabian Knights were hungry for a victory going into the game against the Southside Panthers Friday night.  The Knights turned that hunger into a 28-17 win over the Panthers.

Arab was the first to score with 6:10 left in the first quarter.  After getting the ball on their own 49 yard line Arab moved 51 yards in 10 plays. Jonathan Embry carried the ball in to the end zone from the two yard line on a quarterback sneak play.  The point after kick was good and Arab led 7-0.

Southside tied the game 7-7 with 58 seconds left in the first quarter after James Ford scored from the 14 yard line.  The scoring drive began on the Southside 29 yard line with 12 plays covering 71 yards.  The point after try was good.  The drive ran 5:52 off the clock.

With 6:30 left in the second quarter Southside scored a second touchdown and point after to go ahead by seven points.  James Ford raced into the end zone from the 43 yard line to score his second TD of the game.  The Southside scoring drive took only 2 plays in 49 seconds after getting the ball on the Arab 44 yard line.  

Neither team was able to score before half-time.  The first half ended with Southside leading Arab 14-7

After a fumble by Arab on the opening drive of the second half Southside recovered the ball on the 22 yard line but Southside fumbled on the first play and Arab recovered for an exchange of fumbles.

After getting the ball back, John King broke an 82 yard run for Arab's second touchdown of the game to tie the game after the point after was good.  The Arab drive started on the 13 yard line.  The drive ran 25 seconds off of the clock and with 9:07 left in the third quarter Arab had tied the game at 14-14.

The Knights regain the lead with 5:19 to go in the 3rd quarter after John King punches in for his second touchdown of the game.  This drive started from the Southside 27 yard line.  Six plays later King scored from the 8 yard line.  The Arab drive took 1:40.  Knights lead 21-14.

Southside was unable to cross the goal line in the third quarter and was forced to settle for a 36 yard  field goal to add 3 points with 1:05 left on the clock.  The 3rd quarters ends with Arab leading 21-14.

Arab adds to their lead after Jonathan Embry scores his second touchdown of the night with 2:02 left on the clock in the 4th quarter.  Embry ran a quarterback sneak from the 1 yard line for the score.  The point after kick was good and Arab led 28-17.  The Arab drive went 33 yards in 8 plays and took 4:30 off the clock.

Arab sealed the victory after a drive by Southside was stopped when Brandon Tidmore knocked down a key Southside pass attempt.  Southside was forced to turn the ball over on downs with 1:04 left in the game.  Arab runs the clock out for the win.
