When it comes to cell phones, you have a lot of choices. So picking out the right phone can be a tough decision.

Effortless phone backups

Smartphones are great. They help you manage your appointments, surf the Web and, of course, communicate.

Your smartphone probably is loaded with photos, videos and contacts. So, you want to make sure this data is protected.

Smartphones make it easy to back up your data. You just connect your phone to your computer. A program automatically synchronizes your phone.

Of course, you need to remember to synchronize your phone. That's often easier said than done.

Well, Dashwire will help. You don't need to connect any cables. You don't need to remember to back up. It's all done automatically!

All your data is backed up to the Internet. You can also update your phone from the Web! Now, that's handy.

Dashwire works with Windows Mobile smartphones. But it will soon work with BlackBerrys, too.

In the eyes of parents, their children are always the cutest kids around.

How about a bike ride?

Meet John Hall. He's a 62-year-old emergency medical physician.

John is currently on a 120-day bike ride—give or take a few days. In all, he will ride more than 12,000 miles.

He is traveling the perimeter of the country, and has already ridden close to 10,000 miles.

For some, a 12,000-mile bicycle ride may sound like sheer lunacy. Others may simply wonder why he would attempt such a thing.

Well, John has a very noble reason for the ride. He is raising awareness of breast cancer, which his wife recently battled.

John is also raising donations for several organizations. At his site, you can contribute money directly to the organizations.

So far, John has raised more than $100,000! I'm sure his story will inspire you to open your purse strings and make a contribution.

Check out his blog. There are plenty of interesting pictures and stories from his journey.

Want to change your house?

With summer here, we're spending more time indoors, where it is nice and cool. So, little things in your house may annoy you.

Maybe you don't like the floors. Or, maybe you want to shake things up by moving your furniture.

Before you get started with projects like this, do a little planning. Otherwise, you could end up with a mess on your hands.

Well, PlanningWiz has a free tool that will help. Begin by entering the dimensions of your room.

Then add existing structural elements like doors, arches and windows. Now you're ready to have some fun!

You can add new structural elements to your room—if you're planning on doing some heavy-duty remodeling.

You can also change the floor covering. Then add furniture to see how things will look. Once you're done, save or e-mail your plan for future reference.

Video of the Day: Nokulunga Buthelezi sits on her head and wraps her legs around her body. She's a contortionist in a circus. Incredible.

Privacy Tip: So, you got a smartphone, huh? Have you considered security? There's little danger now. But that could change.

Download of the Day: You probably have important stuff in your e-mail archives. Better back it up. I have a free program that will do just that.

Kids Tip: Are you up on idozers? Those are digital drugs. Their sounds supposedly cause drug-like reactions. I'm leery of this.

Download CD artwork

Records and cassette tapes are long gone. And, if you're like me, you no longer purchase music on CD.

Rather, you download music from online stores. Digital downloads make finding and buying music a breeze.

But there is one thing I miss about CDs. That's the cover art. Sure, stores like iTunes include it with purchases. But other stores may not.

Fortunately, you can find CD covers online at sites like AllCDCovers. Search for the artwork you want, and then download it in a snap!

AllCDCovers isn't just about music. You'll also find cover artwork for movies and video games.

Download of the Day: Gas prices got you down? I have a free, 100 mpg carburetor! Just kidding. But maybe I can save you some money.

A mountain of coupons

You can often find great deals on a wide range of products online. But did you know that you might be able to save even more?

Many popular Web sites accept coupons. No, you don't need to clip them from the paper. You just enter a coupon code when you check out.

Redeeming an online coupon is the easy part. Unfortunately, finding these coupons can be much more difficult.

Sites often offer coupons to people who have made purchases in the past. Or, you can find them on sites like Coupon Mountain.

Coupon Mountain has coupons for sites like Dell, HP, Target and Home Depot. You can search by category or by store.

This is one site you'll want to bookmark. Then, before you complete an online purchase, search for a coupon code. You can save big bucks!

Every day, Team Komando produces some of the best content you'll find anywhere on the Internet. Here is a sampling of what's new on our site today!

Video of the Day: What happens when a wild animal meets the people who raised him? This video will touch you.

Game manuals galore

Video games provide hours of entertainment. So, it is no surprise that they can be expensive.

Maybe you look for ways to save on video games. Perhaps you rent them from your local video store. Or, you might buy used copies of games.

Unfortunately, you could run into problems with rented and second-hand games. The instructions could be missing. Or maybe they lack an essential map of the game world.

That makes playing these games difficult. But don’t despair; there’s hope! Visit replacementdocs.

At replacementdocs, you can download instruction manuals and more for games both new and old.

If you find the site useful, you may want to give back to the community. You can help others by uploading manuals for games not in the database.

Now, go get your game on!

Improve your child's education

As parents, we want to give our children the best that life has to offer. And the easiest way to open doors for your children is to give them a good education.

A good education will help your children be better people. Your children will be prepared to handle the challenges life throws at them. They'll also have more opportunities in life.

Unfortunately, it isn't always easy picking out the best school for your child. But Great Schools can help. This site will help you find the best schools in your area.

You can search schools by ranking. There are also reviews from other parents that will help you make your decision.

Of course, there's more to a good education than picking a school. So, you'll find tips for helping your child with homework and getting them more interested in school.

The site primarily covers kindergarten through 12th grade. But you'll also find plenty of help for preparing your children for college—and paying for it!

If you're a grandparent, do your grandchildren a favor. Pass this newsletter on to their parents. They'll appreciate that you're looking out for your grandchildren's future well-being.

A bunch of links

Here at Komando central, we pass around a lot of links. For example, I may need to send someone five, 10 or even 15 links at a time.

Of course, some people balk at getting an e-mail with so many links in it.  It's difficult to keep track of a bunch of links.

Well, I've found a solution. URLBunch lets you compress a long list of links into a single link.

How does it work? Visit the site and enter your links in the box. Then, click Bunch Together. In seconds, you'll get one simple link.

When the recipient clicks on the link, URLBunch's site opens. And voila! Your long list of links appears, each just waiting to be clicked!

Create PDFs the easy way

The PDF file format is one of the best ways to share documents with other people.

All you need to open a PDF file is the ubiquitous (and free) Adobe Reader. You don't need to worry about compatibility issues.

Your document will open on virtually any computer. And the formatting will be preserved. So, there will be no surprises when the document is opened.

Unfortunately, Acrobat, the industry standard in PDF creation, is a costly program. Unless you're a business user, it can be difficult to justify the expense.

Well, there is an easy solution to that: PrimoOnline. It's a totally free way to create a PDF file. And it works with over 300 different file types.

Just enter your e-mail address and upload your file. Then, click a button. You'll get the PDF file in your inbox.

Convert virtually anything

The other day, I was doing some research in my super-secret laboratory. I needed to do calculations on dynamic viscosity.

Unfortunately, I was having a little trouble. I was working with different units of measurement.

So I called up Convertworld on my computer. It helped me convert the measurements. I was able to complete my calculations with nary a problem.

Now, you may not be interested in dynamic viscosity. But you will find Convertworld handy nonetheless.

For example, you can find currency and weight conversions. Or, see what time it is in other parts of the world.

That's just the beginning. Chances are, you'll find a conversion calculator for any measurement you need.

Be sure to bookmark this site. It's a great reference tool!

Tighten your belt

I have a reputation for being, um, frugal. I simply don’t like to waste my hard-earned money.

You’re probably the same way. And, in today’s economy, it is more important than ever to watch our spending.

Plenty of sites online offer money-saving advice. But few are as reputable as Consumer Reports.

For decades, Consumer Reports has helped people find the best values. Now, it has created a site to help you save money in tough times.

The tips cover a wide range of subjects. For example, there are tips for new parents. There are also tips for those considering retirement.

There’s something for everybody here. The site will help you stretch your dollar as far as it will go. And, believe it or not, it isn’t always painful!
