Blake Seguin signs baseball scholarship to Jacksonville

Blake Seguin made it official Thursday afternoon
as he signed a scholarship to play baseball for the Jacksonville State
Gamecocks during a signing ceremony in the Arab High School Media
Center. Blake, who is a senior at Arab High will be attending
Jacksonville after graduation. Blake played short stop
for the Arabian Knights.
Offensively during the
2006 season, Seguin played in 25 games and had 80 at bats with a .400
batting average. Seguin racked up 32 hits, seven of which were
doubles with a .488 slugging percentage and .462 on base percentage..
Seguin scored 19 runs and had 13 RBI's for the season.
Defensively, Seguin
played 168 innings racking up 56 assists and 28 put-outs. He had a
.884 fielding percentage.
Seguin was honored during the
recent baseball banquet and cookout with the
Best Defensive
Infielder award. He was also named Marshall County "All County
Shortstop" and was and East-West All Star Game participant.
The Knights finished the season with a 20-6 record (4-3 area) and won
the Marshall County Championship. The Knights went to the
first round of AHSAA 5A Play-offs but were
defeated by Homewood.
