Senior Highlights

By Nicci Edkins

Bryce C. Davidson

Bryce C. Davidson has been chosen as one of the senior highlights this week. His parents are Courtney and Tracy Davidson.

Bryce attended Kosciusho Upper Elementary School in Mississippi before coming to Brindlee Mountain as a freshman. His favorite thing about Brindlee Mountain is Coach Deaver. When he graduates, he plans on attending Jacksonville State for ROTC. Bryce's three main goals in life are to graduate from high school, get out of Arab to see different places, and retire from the army.

Bryce's favorite things are the color green and boneless buffalo wings. His favorite movie is Role Model, and he loves pop punk music. In his free time, Bryce plays football, the game Call of Duty, and his bass guitar.
When we asked Bryce who his role model was and why, he replied, “My brother is a good example because he makes the best out of every situation." When asked where he sees himself in ten years, his answer was this- "Hopefully not dead."

Casey J. Edkins

Casey Jay Edkins, better known as C.J, is a senior this year at Brindlee Mountain. His parents are Lissa Ruggles and step-dad Rick Steiner. Casey's siblings are Austin Jay Ruggles(A.J) and Nicole Jo Edkins (Nicci). When he tells people that he and Nicci are twins, they tend not to believe him.

C.J attended Grassy Elementary before entering Brindlee Mountain in 2003. When he graduates, he would like to attend Berry University and major in Marine Biology or Psychology. School Spirit, as defined by him, is when the students and staff come together to celebrate an occasion, no matter the size. His favorite thing about Brindlee Mountain is his friends.

Casey's favorite color is green, and his favorite food is Italian. He enjoys watching The Pursuit of Happiness and loves to listen to all kinds of genres, just as long as it’s not country. His hobbies are going to the Guntersville Dam with his friends, drawing, and studying parcore. Parcore is a style of dance that involves back flips, front flips, and round-offs with a group of people.

Casey's role model is himself. His reason is, "You should always respect yourself before others, but not be conceded about it. Admire yourself for who you are, and admire those that love you, no matter how hard it may be at times." Casey sees himself in ten years with a beautiful woman, living on or near the beach, and continuing his studies in Marine Biology.

Varsity Volleyball

By Josh Clark
The varsity volleyball team at here at Brindlee Mountain has two captains, Ronda Dagley and Amanda Peterson. They both pretty much agree that their practices are looking great, although Dagley states, “We need to improve on communication and passing.” Amanda and Ronda enjoy Coach Brad Deaver as a coach. When asked how she felt about Deaver as a coach Ronda said, “He’s fun when we practice, and when it’s time to get tough, he does. Coach Deaver is also all about staying positive.” Amanda on the other hand had this to say about Coach Deaver, “He’s a good coach. He has done a lot for us.”

Both of the young athletes have been playing volleyball for some time. Ronda has been playing for eight years, and Amanda has been playing for five years. Peterson states this about her one of her favorite things about volleyball: “I really love playing ninja before all the games. It is a technique to keep us focused,” said Peterson. When we asked Ronda her favorite thing, she said very firmly, “how the team is like a family, and it also gets me pumped.” Dagley and Peterson both consider volleyball important to them, so we asked them why. Ronda stated, “Because it’s something I’m good at, and I’ve played it for so long that it has became routine.” Amanda’s answer was a little bit different. She said, “I enjoy playing the game, and I like all of my teammates.” Ronda told us about one of her goals for volleyball as well as some of the team’s goals. Ronda’s goal is to get her sets better. The team’s goals are to win area and make it to state. Amanda had some final input. She adds, “Our teams should be expected to get better over the years because we started a junior varsity team this year so that we can start at a younger age to get upcoming athletes prepared and ready for varsity volleyball.”

Riddle Answer -- He was born in the hospital with the room number 1955.
