The Arab Varsity Lady
Knights clinched their fourth straight Marshall County
Championship on Saturday night by defeating the
DAR Lady Patriots 50-39. The Lady
Knights led after each quarter. Arab
led by two points at the end of the first
quarter by a score of 12-10. By half
time, the Lady Knights led by 5 points with
the score at 26-21 going into the locker
room. In the third quarter, Arab
led by 36-28 increasing the lead to 8
points. Arab outscored DAR 14-11 in
the fourth quarter to end the game with an
11 point margin.
In addition to
the county champion title, the Lady Knights
came away with several other awards as well:

Alli Smalley was
named the Tournament Most Valuable Player
for her play during the games.

Kathryn
Whitlock, Courtney Gibson, Alex King and
Alli Smaley were named to the All County
team.
-
Head Coach Steve
Flack was named Marshall County Varsity
Girls Coach of the Year.

The Lady Knights shot 54%
from the free throw line but made only 13 of
56 regular field goal attempts for a 23.%
average. Outside the three point line
Arab made 4 of 10 attempts to shoot 40%
outside the circle.
On the
boards Arab led rebounds with 55.2% of total
rebounds. Offensively Arab pulled down
41% of total rebounds and 64.4% of defensive
rebounds. Arab led with a total of 53
tea rebounds to DAR's 43.
Arab
managed to score 14 points off of turnovers
from the Lady Patriots while DAR managed
only four points off of Arab turnovers.
Individual
scores for the game were: Alex King
with 13, Courtney Gibson with 11, Alli
Smalley and Anna Meinert with 10 points
each, Kathryn Whitlock with 3, Tia Alexander
with 2 and Jordan Lemons with 1.
