Arab FD, Four-C VFD and
Union Grove VFD responded to a reported "Kitchen Fire" at 39
Rolling Hills Drive in the Scant City area at 12:44 am this
morning. On arrival about 1/4 of the residence was on fire.
Two occupants were inside the residence when the fire
started. According to their statements the fire started from
grease on the stove. Both escaped unharmed with only the
clothes on their back. Arab and Union Grove fought the fire
while 4C supplied water to the other two departments trucks.
There was no fire hydrant close to the incident so 4C VFD
had to haul water from a fire hydrant on Brashier's Chapel
Road.
The occupant was Chris Cravens, the owner of the residence
is Lee Laney. The occupants had no insurance. The American
Red Cross was on the scene to assist the occupants. Also
assisting onscene was Arab Electric Coop.
Fire units were on-scene until 3:14am and have responded
back to reported flare-ups two different times this morning.
