November 7, 2011
Snead State Community College Department of Theatre will present Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! Set in a Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story and that this new life they will eventually begin together will be in a brand-new state called OKLAHOMA!
This is the 3rd production of Oklahoma! Snead Theatre has produced. "The show talks about a new generation of Americans with the development of a Brand New State." say director Johnny Brewer who led a very successful run of the 2nd production 10 years ago in 2001. "It's a new generation of folks participating in the 2011 edition. The message is as clear both on and off stage as it was when Snead first presented Oklahoma! in 1994. Work hard, be friends and be happy no matter what life has thrown at you."
All tickets for Oklahoma! are $10 and may be purchased at the door on the day of the performances. The box office will open one hour prior to each show. No advanced tickets are sold.
Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday - November 17, 18, 19, at 7:00 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday - November 20 at 2:00 p.m. and will be held in the Bevill Center Concert Hall located on the campus of Snead State Community College
