GUYS AND DOLLS, an oddball romantic comedy considered by many to be the perfect musical, soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters who are legends in the canon: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight "mission doll," out to reform the evil-doers of Time Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet to Cuba and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiancé, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game. Auditions for NUNSENSE
The Whole Backstage Theatre in Guntersville announces auditions for NUNSENSE, the theatre's winter production, a musical comedy with book, music, and lyrics by Dan Goggin. The show is directed by Rich Resler. Auditions will be held in the theatre's reception rooms November 8 and 9 at 7:00 pm, November 10 at 10:00 am, and November 11 at 2:00 pm, and will consist of: cold readings, a dance evaluation, and a vocal audition. Those interested in trying out can come to any or all of the audition sessions.
Those wishing to audition should prepare a song (16 bars to no more than 2 minutes in length), preferably up-tempo, in the style of the classic Broadway repertoire, or may sing a number from the show (also 16 bars to no more than 2 minutes long). An accompanist will be available, but singers are asked to provide their own sheet music, or may bring a CD with musical accompaniment (without vocals). If you are a tap dancer, please bring your tap shoes. Ballet training is also preferred for the role of Sister Mary Leo.
