Local Citizens Attend Hospice of Marshall County

Hospice of Marshall County recently held Volunteer
Training for area volunteers. A total of 43 trainees,
which included 16 staff members, participated in the all
day event which included information:
-
To help
them better understand the needs of those living with
a life limiting illness and the needs of their
families;
-
To
direct the attention of the trainee to his/her own
feelings and attitudes toward death, grief and loss,
including the importance of a non-judgmental attitude
when serving as a volunteer;
-
To
provide meaningful, useful skills to be used when
working with patient and their families;
-
To help
them identify a volunteer role that appeals to them.
Highlights of the training included a tour of Shepherd’s
Cove and a presentation by a panel of family members
served by Hospice of Marshall County.
